This is a well furnished, cozy little cabin with all the modern amenities. I thoroughly enjoyed staying in the quiet peaceful setting, and just being able to get away from the city for awhile. John and his wife were very communicative and helpful. I'll definitely stay again if I'm coming out that way.

John and Cathy are amazing hosts. And the house and observatory are just as described. The provided handbook for Valley Vista Getaway is excellent and has good instructions to become acquainted with the house and observatory, and also has great information about things to do in the area. We had a wonderful stay.

This was a great experience for my son and me. We were in the area to do some deer hunting and had the perfect place to stay and rest between hunts. Plus the hosts were amazing and gave us a Solar Viewing and Star Party where we got to see the sun, Jupiter, Saturn, Pleiades, Andromeda and the Moon through their telescopes. I was awesome!!! Everything was perfect!

John and Cathy Adler Valley Vista Getaway Hosts

Meet Your Hosts

Greetings! Our names are John and Cathy Adler. We first visited southwestern New Mexico a couple of years ago in search of dark skies and ended up falling in love with the area. When we stumbled upon this charming tiny house, we decided to purchase it so that we could spend winters here and share it with others who were seeking outdoor adventures or a chance to marvel at the starry night sky.

For four years, we were living full-time in our motor home, exploring various parts of the country after retiring. Prior to this, we owned a campground in the Black Hills of South Dakota for six years. And before the campground, John worked as a civil engineer for the State of South Dakota Department of Transportation, while Cathy served as the executive director of the local United Way before taking on the campground.

We sincerely hope that during your stay here, you'll capture some incredible photos of the night sky or Milky Way, encounter a bird species you've never seen before, or enjoy a wonderful hike. Most importantly, take the time to relax and soak in the breathtaking views, as well as the peace and tranquility that this place has to offer.
